Now, it was a place equally known for both the fortune and death that came from it. Not a single room or hall of the structure was without stains of blood from men of all ages and backgrounds. No one was denied entry into the tournament. If a twelve year old wanted in, fine. An old woman? Certainly.
Just beside the gate to the enormous landmark was nailed a large scroll, which was of the tournament rules.
The Great Aludian Tournament
Tournament, as usual, will be held in the palace coliseum. New to this year's tournament will be death matches. Ruccio Dale and Aryan Ciske will fight first and one must die before the tournament begins. The winner will compete as a normal fighter, but neither he nor his opponent will be able to yield.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
Either combatant may yield at any time.
All weapons allowed.
Matches will be arranged on-site.
Tournament winner will be awarded the status and all possessions of the previous princess knight, as well as one hundred and fifty thousand gold pieces.
Victor Brock may be challenged at any time by the top five combatants, even after the tournament ends. (If this fight is won by the challenger, he may have anything he desires...excepting only the throne.)
Few paused to look at it, as they had already read them on previous occasions. More would go in the coliseum as listed on the document, though, as bets were placed on every fight. Every man (excluding Aryan and Ruccio) that won would be awarded an amount of gold following a fight, decided by either the King or managment. The amount would depend on how well the contender had fought, and whether or not his foe was slain. Killing one's opponent often resulted in bonuses exceeding five hundred pieces. However, the total amount was not given until the conclusion of the tournament, in case the one that would have recieved it dies.
Only a half hour and the fights would start. Things were currently being prepared for the King's balcony, which would be a place of luxury in all aspects. Skilled crossbowmen would stand behind his seat, ready to kill anyone that displeased Talarin in any way.
